The Regional Commission on Homelessness uses broad regional community input and participation to assess the need and find and implement solutions, creating positive and measurable outcomes for our homeless citizens. Information flows to and from the Regional Commission through a system of Councils with associated work groups, committees, and ad hoc tack forces.

The framework:

Regional Commission on Homelessness
A regional collaborative that includes representation from business; city, county, and state governments; and the faith and nonprofit communities. Governmental Member Jurisdictions include the City of Atlanta, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton, Gwinnett and Rockdale Counties. This group provides leadership on the following strategic components of our community's approach to ending chronic homelessness in ten years:

  • Strategic Planning
  • Resource Development
  • Service Coordination
  • Standards and Evaluation
  • Education and Advocacy

Councils
Six Councils focus on key elements that support continued update, improvement, and progress on the Blueprint to End Homelessness in Ten Years. Councils include:

  • Addiction/Mental Health Council
  • Community Education Council
  • Employment Council
  • Prevention Services Council
  • Supportive Housing Council
  • Women and Children's Council

Each Council provides expertise, input and feedback for their specific area of focus. Their contributions are incorporated into work on the strategic components under the Regional Commission's responsibility. Council deliverables within each strategic component include the following:

Service Coordination
