United Way of San Diego County

Homeless Outreach and Prevention

United Way of San Diego County is focusing on chronic homelessness, which drains significant resources and is often addressed after it is too late.

United Way has collaborated with community leaders, partner agencies and other experts to develop a solutions-oriented plan, the 10 Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness in the San Diego Region, that focuses on "housing first", wrap-around support services and prevention as ways to end chronic homelessness in the San Diego region. The plan has been approved by the City of San Diego. The Mayor's office is working with United Way to select the person to head the effort.
